California Wedding

Briana & Marc | Malibou Lake Mountain Club Wedding

So as many people know, or find out pretty soon after meeting me, I was born and raised in Los Angeles. I lived there the first 25 or so years of my life. I went to school there (good ole LAUSD), college, and even got married in the next county over. Southern California was my first home, and in many ways will always be home to me. So when I get a chance to shoot a wedding there, I am all for it.

Last year a former middle school class mate contracted me about her wedding. Briana and I, as I remember, shared numerous classes together as Palms Middle School. But for some reason I vividly remember our 6th grade English class. Briana sat behind me for at least part of the year. Isn't it funny how we remember the most random things about others? Anyway, we connected at some point years later through social media and she contacted me about shooting her wedding when she got engaged. I was so excited. We also planned an epic beach shoot at El Matador State Beach, which I plan to blog as well. But, I HAVE to share one photo of that now because nothing beats those California sunsets!

Their wedding was held in this beautiful hidden venue in Agoura Hills called Malibou Lake. I lived in SoCal 25 years and never knew it was there. But it was such a lovely location and their wedding was absolutely beautiful. I even got to see another old Palms classmate who was Brianas bridesmaid!

Here are a few of the many beautiful moments from Briana and Marcs wedding. <3

Mariel & Randy's Beautiful Somis, California Wedding at Hartley Botanica

Most people who know me know I am a proud California girl. I was born in Santa Monica and lived in Los Angeles until my mid 20's. So I was beyond excited when Randy, a former classmate of mine (who also happened to be in one of my high school photography classes!) contacted me to fly out and photograph his wedding.

I worked with Mari and Randy on planning the details from opposite coasts and it all came together wonderfully. Between emails and conference calls, we were ready to go. I was also excited to have Mike Kerr, who was a classmate of mine in art college, second shoot with me.

The venue, Hartley Botanica, is like stepping into a hidden paradise nestled amongst endless crops of oranges, onions and strawberries in Ventura County. It's whimsical. And Randy and Mari's day was absolutely beautiful.
