We simply love this couple! We met Jim a couple years ago because both of us were looking for a new hair salon and stylist closer to home. After much googling, one of Jim’s Facebook ads popped up and we both liked his work. The rest, as they say, is history! So we were very honored when him and his beautiful fiancé Mary chose us to photograph their wedding.
Cierra and Sean are one of those couples where you can just TELL how perfect they are for one another. They came to me after their original photographer cancelled and had tons of questions, which I LOVE. I want our clients to feel confident in our abilities so I am happy to sit an answer any and all questions they may have. Once they booked, we had a fun engagement session in Downtown Atlanta, which ended up being published in Black Nuptials.
Their wedding day finally came and it ended up being a lovely day! Getting ready took place at Cierras beautiful apartment in Midtown, and Sean got ready at his brothers place across the street. Their gorgeous places made me miss living in the city!
Now, I love capturing emotion. And when it came time for Seans present to Cierra, there was not a dry eye in the room. He wrote her a letter, which one of her bridesmaids read, in which he told her he had paid off all her student loans so they could start their marriage debt free. WOW! That moment will stay with me for years to come as one of my favorite gifts a groom has gotten a bride on their wedding day.
The rest of the day was perfect. Cierras bridesmaids didn't make her lift a finger (which is how it should be)! And every moment was filled with happy emotions from everyone. The reception, which was designed by the super talented Niq Williams Events, was gorgeous. And Sean and his groomsmen even did a stellar performance to Bruno Mars "Finesse" before he took off her garter.
Congratulations again you two! And thank you for letting us capture your day.

Laura and Glenn had a beautiful wedding at The Engine Room in Monroe, GA. This venue is such a wonderful space, with the exposed brick and big windows. Laura loves sparkly things so the beautiful sequin rose gold table covers were such a fun and nice splash of color and sparkle to the space. And her dress was simply stunning. The detail in the back was beyond impressive! And of course, Glenn looked great in his dark blue suit. They ended the night with a bubble exit that turned out perfect!
It was such a fun day and we are so thankful Laura and Glenn for having us capture their special day. We wish the two of you the absolute best in your lives together!

When Cayla contacted us about her wedding, we realized we had a few mutual friends. She hired us on one of our few dates still open for the spring, as her wedding was only a couple months out. We soon learned she had planned her entire wedding in only a few months, and WOW did they do a great job! Every detail was thought out and perfectly executed. If she ever decides to leave her current career, I definitely think she should go in to wedding planning ;)
The day of their wedding, the forecast showed rain all day. 2018 so far has felt like nothing BUT rain. Every. single. weekend. But, we got some spells where the rain stopped and were able to get some portraits done outside. And guys...they had a TACO BAR. And it was GOOD.
Congrats again to Cayla and Ryan! We wish you the best in your lives together and thank you for having us capture your special day.

From the moment I met Kristina I knew I was going to LOVE working with her. We had a great talk at our first meeting and she told me how Sean proposed and about his love for sneakers. She told me Sean had an idea to do their engagement photos at Krog Street Tunnel and I lit up. I had been wanting to do a shoot there for YEARS, but just never had the opportunity.
For those who aren't familiar with Atlanta or Krog Street Tunnel, it's a tunnel on...you guessed it...Krog Street. What makes it unique is that it is FULL of graffiti and street art, and is always changing. Right down the street from the tunnel is the newer Krog Street Market, which is full of fun and unique food fair and a couple shops. The surrounding area is known as Cabbagetown and is full of street art and cute, older bungalow houses. It's such a fun area for artists and photographers.
Anyway, back to Kristina and Sean. They were seriously SO much fun. Very natural in front of the camera and both have great smiles. We finished the session at the famous Jackson Street Bridge that overlooks downtown Atlanta.
We can't wait for their wedding at Little Gardens later this year!
Is it really already 2018? I know it's already March, but it's still hard to believe some days that it's 2018. Time really does fly.
We had our first wedding of the year this past Sunday and it was simply lovely! It took place at Primrose Cottage in Roswell, which is a historic house turned venue right in Downtown Roswell. It was our first time shooting there and we hope to be able to go back one day!
While it rained all day, it didn't spoil the day. The ceremony and reception took place inside and was adorned in the 2018 Pantone color of the year, Ultra Violet! There were lots of tears of joy and sweet moments during the day.
Brittany and Michael's November wedding was absolutely beautiful. The venue, Vinewood Plantation in Newnan, GA, is an exquisite 1800's plantation home, and was the perfect setting for photos of the bride and groom getting ready.
The ceremony and reception took place in the nearby converted barn on the property. The rustic wood details inside the barn were the perfect background for the deep maroons and blues of the wedding party and florals.
While it rained on and off much of the day, we were able to go outside for photos before and after the ceremony. The first dance, shown above, was like nothing we have ever seen. Brittany changed out of her gown and into a lovely shorter dress and dance slippers. They did a routine to Ed Sheeran - Thinking Out Loud. It was so unique and entertaining, with everyone in the room watching intently. The rest of the evening was spent dancing with friends and family and ended with a fun sparkler exit.
Congratulations Brittany and Michael! And thank you for allowing us to capture such a special day for you both.
Anyone who knows Atlanta knows that Piedmont Park is Atlanta's Central Park. This popular park in Midtown has all kinds of festivals and events all year long. It's also an extremely popular spot for photography because of the lovely views of the city.
Needless to say, when Katherine's mother Lee contacted me about shooting her daughters wedding there, I was excited to finally get to use the park for a backdrop for wedding photos. Little did we know, there was also a last minute festival happening the night of their wedding AND a firework show.As a photographer, the dramatic skies during the day and the fireworks at night made for a super fun day for photography!
Katherine and Jordan are a lovely couple, as are their families. We are so happy for them and I'm glad the rain held out for their special day!
I was so excited for Sarah and Pete's wedding at the Mill at Yellow River in Porterdale, GA. I used to do photo sessions at this location when I first started my business years ago. But since it has become such a popular location that they don't allow photographers to just go there and shoot anymore. So being able to shoot a wedding there was exciting.
Sarah and Pete are a wonderful couple and Im so glad their day turned out perfect. The weather was nice and the sunset while we were shooting on the rocks of the Yellow River was amazing! Thank you both for allowing us to capture your beautiful day.

I love every client I get, and every wedding and shoot I do. But now and then I get a couple who are just naturals in front of the camera. Emily and Ashton are one of these couples. They seriously make my job so easy. I mean look at them, they're gorgeous!
Emily and I planned their session, from locations to poses. Ultimately, Piedmont Park was the best fit. For those who are not familiar, Piedmont is like Atlanta's Central Park. Located right in the middle of midtown, it's a little bit of greenery amongst the city. Ok, maybe a lot...it's a pretty big park! The great thing is along with the lake and fields, the backdrop is the city skyline of Atlanta. All this makes it perfect for an engagement session.
Here is some of their session. Check out Emily's GORGEOUS custom made ring from Simply Radiant out of Houston Texas.
This is the #1 question I get once people book with us. And I definitely understand why. I still ask myself what the heck am I going to wear every year for our annual family photos we get done. It can be stressful figuring out the perfect outfit for a photo shoot. You want to look your best for these photos. They will likely go on your save the dates or maybe theyre the first professional photos you’ve ever taken with your future spouse.
I decided since I get asked so often about how to plan for an engagement session, I will give tips here so you have at the very least a starting point with planning your engagement session.
Hair and Makeup
Many of our clients get their hair and makeup done professionally for their engagement photos. I definitely suggest at least getting professional makeup done. These days it’s not that expensive. I mean, we have all been there. You do your makeup and it looks nice in the mirror and then you take a photo and look like a different person. Makeup artists understand how to make your face look the best it possibly can for photos. One thing I hear sometimes is “I rarely ever wear makeup day to day.” And that’s fine! A makeup artist can give you a natural look all while accentuating key features to make them look amazing on camera. However even if you prefer a natural look, one thing to keep in mind is sometimes to achieve that on camera, your makeup may look more dramatic in person than you may be used to. That is totally normal! This is why the makeup industry in Hollywood will never go broke, they use makeup to even make people look like they have no makeup on! ;)
As for hair, some of our clients choose to get their hair professionally done. Sometimes a simple blow out can make a huge difference. Some people even just do their own. I definitely suggest a style of some kind, though, even if you do it yourself.
When we plan an engagement session, the look is key. Some people want a cityscape, some people want tall grass in a field, and some people enjoy the look of a simple town square. We have done engagement sessions everywhere from a fire station for clients who worked for Fire and EMS to a golf course for clients who were avid golfers, to an art gallery. Your looks will depend on where we plan to shoot your session.
I always suggest a classy look and a more casual look. Some people will even choose to do some photos in a sports jerseys if they have teams they love, or shirts from where they went to college. For the golf course session I mentioned above, the couple dressed in golf gear for the photos we did on the course. Then we did a dressy look up at the clubhouse. It’s important to be yourself, but also use this as a time to dress up! One of my all-time favorite looks is a gown and suit for an engagement session. Of course, this look works best for a city-scape or indoor session, but each time our clients do this look they end up looking like super-models in their photos!
What To Wear
I love it when our clients have more than one outfit for their engagement session. We don’t put a limit on how many outfits our clients may have for their session, but usually 2-3 is perfect. Anything more than that and it becomes like a fashion show and those are tiring! Two to three looks will provide a nice variety in your photos and you can do the dressy and casual looks I mentioned above.
For a dressy look I mentioned a gown and suit. Of course this isn’t necessary, but it’s a wonderful option for those willing. Imagine romantic photos, an evening on the town. It can be so fun to dress up like this for a photo shoot. Even if that is a bit much for you, a nice dress and dress pants and a dress shirt works well for this look.
For the more casual look, jeans work well. For the women, heels or boots and a blouse look nice. If you are doing a field or park session, platform sandals work well. Other options besides jeans are capris or a skirt. For the men, jeans or khakis and button down shirt look nice. Some men choose to pair this with a blazer. For the colder months, sweaters look nice with jeans or khakis for both parties.
The only thing we won’t suggest are sneakers or tennis shoes unless they are specifically for a sports-themed look.
Colors can vary. Some photographers will recommend not wearing certain prints or even all black. We think almost anything can work well for photos if done right. The only thing we don’t suggest is both of you wearing the exact same color. For example if you both wore all black, you may blend into one another. Other than that prints and certain colors won’t ruin your photos.
There are some colors that go better together than others. When I was in art school we focused a lot on complementary colors. Plum and gold (purple and yellow), for example, go well together. As do navy and rust (blue and orange). Monotone colors also go well, which include different shades of a certain color, plus whites and blacks.
In conclusion, you should feel comfortable with what you’re wearing during your engagement session. But also this is a great time to step out of your normal, everyday outfits into something fancy and fun.
Darcy and Eric are one of those couples who not only are a perfect fit for one another, but they also make love look GOOD. They are a simply gorgeous couple. We absolutely loved working with them. From planning their engagement shoot, to making it happen on the skyline of Buckhead, to their wedding day between getting ready at Chateau Elan and saying their vows at 550 Trackside. Darcy knew what she wanted and we loved making those ideas come to life.

There are some couple that, when I meet them, I can just tell how utterly in love they are. It's the little things. The way he looks at her when she isn't paying attention. The way her fact lights up when she talks about how he proposed. Their excitement when planning their big day.
Krysti and Doug are one of these couples. And while I love all the weddings we shoot, weddings with couples like make my job all the more meaningful and fun.
So as many people know, or find out pretty soon after meeting me, I was born and raised in Los Angeles. I lived there the first 25 or so years of my life. I went to school there (good ole LAUSD), college, and even got married in the next county over. Southern California was my first home, and in many ways will always be home to me. So when I get a chance to shoot a wedding there, I am all for it.
Last year a former middle school class mate contracted me about her wedding. Briana and I, as I remember, shared numerous classes together as Palms Middle School. But for some reason I vividly remember our 6th grade English class. Briana sat behind me for at least part of the year. Isn't it funny how we remember the most random things about others? Anyway, we connected at some point years later through social media and she contacted me about shooting her wedding when she got engaged. I was so excited. We also planned an epic beach shoot at El Matador State Beach, which I plan to blog as well. But, I HAVE to share one photo of that now because nothing beats those California sunsets!
Their wedding was held in this beautiful hidden venue in Agoura Hills called Malibou Lake. I lived in SoCal 25 years and never knew it was there. But it was such a lovely location and their wedding was absolutely beautiful. I even got to see another old Palms classmate who was Brianas bridesmaid!
Here are a few of the many beautiful moments from Briana and Marcs wedding. <3
Briana and Marc, thank you again for allowing us to capture your beautiful day.

This springtime wedding was simply perfect. All week my weather app had threatened rain at Hightower Falls near Cartersville, GA, but when the big day finally arrived it was PERFECT out. It was nothing but blue skies and white, fluffy clouds. And let me tell you, Hightower Falls is a hidden gem in Georgia. The little enclave where an old grist mill used to operate in the 1800's almost feels magical. It's the perfect place for a secluded outdoor wedding.
Sarah and Steve are both in law enforcement and both in the military. Sarah is in the Navy (along with the other half of Oak and Gold Studios, Nathaniel). And Steve is in the Army. We definitely thank them for their service!
Congratulations to Sarah and Steve!
